Through the Dark Forest is the fifteenth book in the Never Girls series. It is also the second book in the "Finding Tinker Bell" series.

Plot[]

"In the second book in the new Finding Tinker Bell series, The Never Girls' quest takes them to a mysterious shadow island. Can they find Tink without putting the rest of their fairy friends in danger?"

The Never Girls, with the help of Iridessa, Rosetta, Fawn, and Silvermist, set out to find Tinker Bell. But when they group flies too far out to see, they can sucked into a portal located in a mysterious greenish-black cloud. Unfortunately, the group is separated from Fawn and Silvermist and they find themselves on Shadow Island, the same island Tinker Bell had set out to.

The group enters the Dark Forest where they meet Sprites that call themselves the Low Ones. Once taken to their village their leader, Ersa, tells the group they desire light and hope the fairies can help. After a last minute decision Mia, Lainey, and Rosetta volunteer to fly up the trees to speak to the Great Ones who turn out to be sentient trees and meet Magnus. They snuff out any light they see in fear of the light being a forest fire. After a misunderstanding when meeting Rosetta, the Great Ones shake and rattle their branches in fear mistaking her for fire.

After spending the night in a nest far above the forest floor, Rosetta has a heart to heart with Magnus and the girls come up with an idea that helps the Sprites and the Great Ones. The Sprites will help keep pests, like beetles away, and the Great Ones will move their branches to let the sunlight reach the forest floor.

The Sprites and the Great Ones come to an agreement and the girls help to introduce the two groups. Afterwards, Ersa tells the group of a strange light they saw leaving the forest a few days before they got there. In hopes of the light being Tinker Bell, some scouts show the group where they saw the light leave the forest where they are reunited with Fawn and Silvermist again. The two fairies claim they may have seen where Tinker Bell went.
