Prilla

Prilla in Prilla and the Butterfly Lie

"Clap to save Mother Dove! Clap for Neverland! Clap for fairies! Clap! Clap!"

-Prilla encourages human children to clap

Prilla caused quite a stir because she was the only fairy who didn't know what her talent was upon Arrival. Though she was somewhat unsure of herself (which might have had something to do with not knowing her talent!) she's a good-humored fairy who always has the best intentions. She is one of the few fairies who doesn't mind Vidia's attitude.

Her talent is mainland-visiting-clapping, and she "blinks" to the Mainland (our world) whenever a fairy is in danger of dying to encourage children who still believe in fairies to clap their hands and prevent the demise. A fairy dies when the child who created him or her (by laughing for the first time) stops believing in fairies. Prilla's talent was initially obscure, but was discovered in Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg when it was evident that she could "blink" to the mainland easily, which the other fairies cannot do. Another aspect of Prilla's talent is that she uses human titles and idioms (for example, addresses others as "Miss" or apologizes by saying "I'm sorry" rather than "I'd fly backward if I could"), which allows her to communicate better with human children.[1]

Upon her arrival, most fairies thought she was incomplete because she didn't immediately know her talent. In fact, the opposite is true. When her human (Sara Quirtle) laughed for the first time, some of Sara stuck to to the laugh, so Prilla's human-like mannerisms and talent may came from the part of Sara that stuck to the laugh.[1]
